Autumn Evening Settles over the Holiday Towns of Wye River and Separation Creek

            Easters Past #2. 
This is the idyllic place where my previous photo 'Chocolate Choo Choo' was taken the following year.

Easter has a different feel in Australia from that in the Northern Hemisphere. In the southernmost reaches of the continent it signals the last of the beach weather until the next summer for most. Australia is basically a huge desert island with habitable regions mainly concentrated along its coastal rim. The great majority of its inhabitants live within a comfortable day's drive from the ocean, and many people have a favourite spot they go to year after year. For decades we had a permanent on-site caravan and annex at two different locations along The Great Ocean Road in Victoria, where many a wonderful Easter was had. The road is just visible where it winds around the base of the distant hills, and more clearly and closely seen down below the point the photo was taken.

This records what these hillsides were like before being ravaged by bushfires some years later. Gentler fires are kindling up in the fireplaces in the houses nestled within the trees.

The contrasted but fading light from the setting sun (out to the left, landward of the beach) was a bit of a struggle for my early iPhone... makes the image a bit 'painterly'. There have been some improvements made since the original posting.
