Fancy Footwork with Leading Lines - a photo on Flickriver

            Because of problems with the mirror region, I originally did not consider this image to have potential in a batch of photographs where my interest was in the feet, the mirror, and the rug.  But on review, I thought something might be resurrected by a slight adjustment to the focus of interest. The curve of the model's right calf, under pressure from her leg below and tapering down to merge with the outline of her foot, seemed pleasingly sinuous.  The male brain seems wired up to respond to graceful changes of curvature. Even boat shapes can seem sensual to me…

The 35mm focal length equivalent of the zoom setting is 47mm, i.e. on the wide-angle side of standard. Since I know the subject very well, I can say the image needs to be viewed close in and/or large scale to show in natural perspective.

The Persian rug is a beautiful little silk piece from Qum, in Iran.  Nevertheless it surprised me that the green did not work for me as well as the colours of the other rugs for the 'tableau'.  I've played around with this image to make that seem not so much the case...
