Barbara's Beauty Revealed - a photo on Flickriver

            The only way I can "take" new photos of my wife now is to try to do something with rejects from old batches.  A bit of work has redeemed this shot.  Technically, it was near the weakest in its session, but not otherwise.  The likeness is very truthful, and anyway, my need for that smile overcomes photographer pretensions.

Whenever I first glance at this image, I get the impression that my wife was not looking directly at me, but I think that must be because of the strand of her hair falling in front of her left eye.  On closer inspection it is clear she was looking towards the camera, and that makes me love this "failed" portrait even more.
