The Weir at Charlton-All-Saints (Explore)

I always look forward to Autumn but especially this year as I knew the weir at Charlton-All-Saints needed colour. Autumn hadn't fully exploded but the leaves were starting to turn and we can see the first browns and yellows on the Willow tree, whose branches I was standing under. I thought I might need a ND filter but it was quite an overcast morning, so I had to slow the shutter down to 1s to expose the scene correctly anyway, which worked well for the water flowing over the weir. I'm hoping to return when the trees are in full colour.

The weir at Charlton-All-Saints is a short walk from the road. I parked up on the Trafalgar Park side of the Avon, just south of Salisbury, and walked through the woodland to access the river. I had been hoping for more of a dramatic sunrise but when I arrived I was glad of the cloud cover as the sun would have risen from the wrong side. The weir would work better with a wonderful sunset, again just another reason to return.

I'm slowly learning river and sea photography and the correct shutter speeds for simplifying the water. I think I did ok with this shot but still lots to learn here.
