            Geman 'Obergefreiter' (Senior-private) of the 'Panzertruppe der Deutschen Wehrmacht' (Armour troop of the German Defence Force).(Identity, Location, Date Unknown).

"Eisernes Kreuz II. Klasse"
(Iron Cross 2nd Class).
Normally worn as a ribbon after awarded.
The award was given in two tiers: 2nd class for battlefield bravery and 1st class for outstanding bravery and going beyond the call of duty. The award was given progressively, the Soldier must first receive the 2nd class before being awarded the 1st class medal. The next progression would be the Knights Cross awards.

"Panzerkampfabzeichen Silber"
(Tank-combat-badge in Silver).
Awarded to Panzer crew members who were engaged in three assaults or more and have already received an Iron Cross award.

"Verwundetenabzeichen Silber"
(Wounded badge in Silver).
The award was given in three tiers: black, silver and gold. 'Schwarz' (Black) for Soldiers wounded once, 'Silber' (Silver) for at least three times and Gold for five or more times in battle or air attacks. The class may also be awarded higher depending on the severity of the wounds. From 1943 civilians were also given the award for those wounded in bombing raids.

"Krimschild" 
(Crimea shield).
Awarded to Wehrmacht personnel whom served for at least three months or more on the Crimea peninsula, engaged in at least one assault and was wounded during battle for the Crimea between 1941 and 1942.

"Obergefreiter"
(Upper-private or Senior-private).
A tier 3 "Mannschaften" (squad) enlisted service/pay grade and not an 'NCO' (Non-Commissioned Officer) rank. Given after 4 to 6 years of service. Mannschaften ranks have no authority over other soldiers.
