CHEMINOTS INSPECTANT UNE LOCOMOTIVE C1860

            Au 19ᵉ siècle, le transport ferroviaire allait changer à jamais la vie de tous les habitants de la terre…
Un grand pas pour l'humanité !
Les déserts, les forets vierges et les moindres villes dans ce vaste monde auraient sa ligne, sa gare de chemin de fer.
Ce chemin fait de deux traverses en métal allaient monter, descendre des montagnes et même les traverser de part en part, enjamber des fleuves grâce aux travaux gigantesque de pauvres bougres embauché souvent dans la population locale ou déplacée de force.
Plus de limites pour l'ouverture des échanges commerciaux internationaux !
Il faudra toujours plus de charbon de bois et la mains-d’œuvre d'hommes, de femmes et d'enfants…
Des combats territoriaux auront lieu (je pense aux USA).
Le commerce allait enrichir certains, pour d'autres augmenter leurs misérables conditions de vie.
« On ne fait d'omelette sans casser des œufs » dit un proverbe français.
Des usines allaient se monter pour construire ces locomotives avec des villes peuplées exclusivement de chemineaux.
Malheureusement, très peu de photographes professionnels s'intéresseront à tous ces fantômes.
Chaque continent aura ces spécialistes, à l'occasion devenu témoins actifs et revendicatifs.(je pense à un Lewis Hine par exemple)
S’intéresser aux personnes plutôt qu'aux machines ne faisait pas rêver !
En France, un certain Alexandre Bertrand allait en faire une de ces facettes entre deux voyages photographique. (Bien sur Fraget et Viret, ainsi que Furnier et fils, ainsi que bien d'autres photographes par région, à l’occasion, nous laisserons de beaux témoignages de la vie ouvrière et campagnarde qui représentait la majorité de la population française alors.)
Bertrand photographiera de 1857 à 1867, revendant ces négatifs à
Auguste Verneuil en 1868. Puis enfin l'incontournable distributeur parisien Adolphe Bloc : B.K. finira d'exploiter ce catalogue.(  Nous donnant des dioramas de ces négatifs)
Les stéréos de Bertrand sont reconnaissables grâce aux personnages, revenant dans plusieurs scènes. Quant à savoir si vous avez un tirage original ou de Verneuil… Bon courage ! 
Mise en scène et parfois un peu d'humour caractérise aussi ces tirages.
Bertrand photographiait en deux poses séparées, s'intéressant à tous les corps de métiers, des tôliers aux conducteurs, jusqu’à cet empailleur fournissant les paniers pour le petit bois et le charbon, dans cette usine PLM (Paris-Lyon-Marseille) non identifiée.

The deserts, the virgin forests and the smallest towns in this vast world would have its line, its railway station.
This path made of two metal sleepers went up and down mountains and even crossed them from side to side, spanning rivers thanks to the gigantic work of poor fellows often hired from the local or forcibly displaced population.
No more limits for the opening of international trade!
Territorial fights will take place (I'm thinking in the USA).
There will always be a need for more charcoal and the labor of men, women and children...
Trade would enrich some, and increase their miserable living conditions for others.
“You can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs,” says a French proverb.
Factories were going to be set up to build these locomotives with towns populated exclusively by railroad workers.
Unfortunately, very few professional photographers will be interested in all these ghosts.
Each continent will have these specialists, on occasion becoming active and protesting witnesses (I am thinking of a Lewis Hine for example)
Being interested in people rather than machines was not a dream!
In France, a certain Alexandre Bertrand was going to do one of these facets between two photographic trips. (Of course Fraget and Viret, as well as Furnier et fils, as well as many other photographers by region, on occasion, we will leave beautiful testimonies of working and country life which represented the majority of the French population then.)
Bertrand photographed from 1857 to 1867, reselling these negatives to
Auguste Verneuil in 1868. Then finally the essential Parisian distributor Adolphe Bloc: B.K. will finish using this catalog. (Giving us dioramas of these negatives)
Bertrand's stereos are recognizable thanks to the characters, returning in several scenes. As for whether you have an original or Verneuil print… Good luck!
Staging and sometimes a little humor also characterizes these prints.
Bertrand photographed in two separate exposures, taking an interest in all trades, from sheet metal workers to drivers, up to this taxidermist supplying baskets for kindling and coal, in this PLM factory (Paris-Lyon-Marseille) no identified.
