Stéréo très connue, probablement distribuée beaucoup et partout.(avec de grosses similitudes avec le travail d'autres photographes...)

D'une manière générale, une stéréo est plus visible en diorama que peinte directement sur l'albumine. Le moindre écart troublant la vision 3D. (Bon ici ce n'est pas le bon exemple, avec l'homme debout débouchant une bouteille qui est un peu plus vert que prévu...)
J'ai vu trois stéréos comme celle-ci avec d’infime changement…

"James Elliott, né à Londres en 1832 et mort à Kensington en 1900, est l'un des grands précurseurs de la mise en scène photographique. Il est l'auteur de dizaines de vues composées pour le stéréoscope entre 1854 et 1860 environ, qui se sont probablement vendues à des milliers d'exemplaires, et dont il reste encore d'excellents et nombreux spécimens, en Grande-Bretagne comme sur le continent. James Elliott semble avoir réalisé ses prises de vue très élaborées dans un grand atelier au 9 Albany Courtyard, Cité de Westminster, à Londres (informations de photolondon.org.uk) dont les dimensions lui permettaient de reconstituer des scènes qui exigeaient parfois la présence de nombreux figurants. La qualité plastique de ses "tableaux vivants", son sens de la composition et la finesse de certains éclairages trahissent un "œil de peintre" – sa profession véritable, sans doute, comme cela fut le cas..."

Very well known stereo, probably a lot and everywhere distributed. (with big similarities with the work of other photographers...)

Generally speaking, a stereo is more visible in a diorama than painted directly on albumen. The slightest deviation disturbs 3D vision. (Well this is not the good example, with the man standing uncorking a bottle which is a little greener than expected...)
I've seen three stereos like this with tiny changes...

"James Elliott, born in London in 1832 and died in Kensington in 1900, is one of the great precursors of photographic staging. He is the author of dozens of views composed for the stereoscope between approximately 1854 and 1860, which probably sold thousands of copies, and of which excellent and numerous specimens still remain, in Great Britain and on the continent. James Elliott seems to have carried out his very elaborate shots in a large workshop at 9 Albany Courtyard, City of Westminster, in London (information from photolondon.org.uk) whose dimensions allowed him to reconstruct scenes which sometimes required the presence of many extras. The plastic quality of his "tableaux vivants", his sense of composition and the finesse of certain lighting betray a "painter's eye" - his true profession, undoubtedly, as was the case..."
