San Francisco Giants, Seals Stadium, San Francisco 1958

            I don't know much about sports, so I had to research these a bit. Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken on any of this. When the Giants moved to San Francisco in 1957, they needed a temporary place to play while Candlestick Park was being built. So, for the '58 and '59 seasons they played at a local minor league park in SF called "Seals Stadium." When Candlestick opened for the '60 season, Seals was demolished by wrecking ball. Judging from the scoreboard, these photos were likely taken at a Cubs/Giants game on July 4th, 1958. Likely at the first of two games played that day. The site is now a shopping center with a Petco and Safeway. There was a Hamm's beer brewery behind the stadium and also a bread factory nearby. People say depending on which way the wind blew, the whole stadium smelled like beer or bread.
