Riomaggiore

            Riomaggiore è il primo paese che s'incontra partendo da La Spezia una "gola" colorata a pastello che si allunga verso il mare. Due file parallele di case alte e strette addossate alle rocce, l'alveo di un rio il rio Maggiore, che dà il nome al borgo, oggi coperto: L'agglomerato delle abitazioni in picchiata, come chiuso in una morsa, è un colpo d'occhio che entusiasma. Viste dal mare paiono un groviglio , una sopra l'altra, dal colore giallo, rosa, arancio o rosso sbiadito. Il pittore Telemaco Signorini si era trasferito qui, sedotto dalla bellezza del luogo, dipinse splendide opere dagli  "effetti speciali" che solo questo borgo sa regalare. Egli scrisse: "Tra quel precipitare di volte e scale scendemmo nella stretta gola dello scalo, alla marina, e là ebbe il risveglio voluttuoso di i nostri sensi".

Riomaggiore is the first town encountered starting from La Spezia, a "throat" colored crayon that stretches towards the sea. Two parallel rows of tall, narrow houses leaning against the rocks, the bed of a river the Rio Maggiore, which gives its name to the village, now covered: The agglomeration of houses hit, as closed in a vice, is a blow 'eye that excites.
