Back then.. - a photo on Flickriver

Back then..

            I like this photograph a lot, it also has some sentimental value to me and perhaps a historic significance too, who knows?
It is well over 50 years old, has a writing on the backside and was given (with 'thanks') to my father long before I was born. I know it meant something  to him; the mountain, and the photo. He had it on the wall for decades and since he passed away, I have it on my wall for years now. 
A while back I made the effort to scan it to the best of my ability (but it looks soo much better in real life) to preserve it in another, this digital dimension, just in case.
Despite hanging on a wall which had direct afternoon sunlight, it doesn't really show any signs of aging, very curious, I just glued a nook that got a bit loose back onto the wooden panel where it is on when I adopted it.
It still excites me to think about how it must have felt, to be there 50+ years ago, things almost undeveloped, and to climb this majestic mountain with the crude technology of that day. I have slides that my father took from that era; it was wild..
