Mountains burning

            Okay, so this was the finale of the sunset, lasting only a minute or two, sunrays coming right from behind with the shadow already at the treeline on that ridge.
It is really interesting how color and intensity of the light changes depending on how flat it passes through the atmosphere. Hm well, I presume the intensity (brightness / luminosity) does not change at all or if anything, is getting less, but it appears stronger cause everything else gets increasingly darker I guess. That's of course not a sky you will get with the naked eye, but the fun or one of the things a telefoto lens can offer.
I wish the mountains were more defined, but I think that's all that was possible with these conditions, given that the trees on the hill in front are sharp, so it doesn't appear to be a focus issue.

This ridge is a good 41km away from my location, and three things stand out - strongly reflecting the light, there seems to be a plane in the air, the left peak has a radar station right on top and there are two huts at the base with a window or solar panel at the right angle.
This range is also very popular for ski touring, even though the wind can be absolutely ruthless. There is no shelter or anything, if you're not prepared and the wind comes relentless from one side only for a couple of hours, freezing off one side of the body, this can grind you down physically and mentally. Doesn't make it less pretty to look at from the distance though..
