Daw Mill Colliery 2024

            The site was the last working coal mile in the West Midlands, operating until as late as 2013. Located next to the Birmingham to Nuneaton line, it well suited for rail connections operated by EWS, Freightliner, GB Railfreight, Fastline, and of course BR before them.

The Coal Authority stated in 2012, if HS2 was to be built then the site would be forced to close, on the basis of associated developments and the effects on local groundwork. 

Various proposals have been put forward since, however, all have fallen through, with the final decision from the Court of Appeal, ruling the land be returned and restored to greenfield within the greenbelt.
