Panorama of Sunrise View Across Loch Duartmore (Dubhaird Mor) Towards Duartmore Forest from the A894, Highlands, Sutherland, Scotland

            Rising before light to travel back down to the Kylesku Bridge, after spending the night overlooking the sea in Scourie, we had finished with some blue hour images and video of the bridge and were travelling back up towards Laxford before traversing across country, we passed this location - a loch and a forest with the name Duartmore (or Dubhaird Mor). We had seen Kylesku and this location on our travels up the evening before, but the darkness shrouded most of the views.

By now the sun had just come above the horizon and was lighting up the sky nicely. Parking at the side of the A894, it was an easy shoot and we took images on both sides of the road under which the loch flows.

Loch Duartmore is a freshwater loch situated between Kylesku and Scourie but it is connected to the sea by a small river that runs out of the western end. In an area of few trees, Loch Duartmore is bordered by the Duartmore Forest along its southern shore. The A894 road now passes over the loch via a new bridge but to the east can be seen the remains of the old single track road and the arch of the old Duartmore Bridge.
