A total of 113 Dash 7 STOL commuter aircraft were built by DeHavilland Canada between 1975 and 1988. This particular example was built in 1982, and delivered to Norwegian domestic carrier Widerøe the same year.

Registered as LN-WFL, it was captured during turnaround at the old Fornebu airport (now closed), and wearing the carrier's dark green livery of that period.

LN-WFL remained in service with Widerøe until 1992, when it was sold to DNK Aviation Leasing and eventually leased to Egypt in 1996. After the aircraft was repossessed by DNK in late 1997, it was stored at Guernsey, and sadly crashed on a post maintenance test flight over Devonshire in late 1998.
