escarabajo "cucaracha" / "cockroach" beetle

            En viajes a Ayapel, Cordoba, Colombia se me hablaba de un insecto que vivia en una ceiba y que parecia una cucaracha. Lastimosamente nunca lo pude observar. La señora Monica Escobar tomó estas fotos del insecto y me las facilitó. En la región dicen que el escarabajo, o cucarrón, vive en la tierra y sale cuando va a hacer verano (estación seca). 

In trips to Ayapel, Colombia, they told me about an insect that lives in a ceiba tree and that is similar to a cockroach. Unfortunately I could never see it. Ms Monica Escobar took these photos of the bug, a beetle, and allowed me to load them to flickr. In the region people say that it leaves in the ground and then climbs to the ceiba tree when the dry season is coming.
