Burj Khalifa known as Burj Dubai prior to its inauguration, is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is currently the tallest structure in the world, at 829.84 m (2,723 ft). Construction began on 21 September 2004, with the exterior of the structure completed on 1 October 2009. The building officially opened on 4 January 2010
The total cost for the project was about US$1.5 billion; and for the entire "Downtown Dubai" development, US$20 billion.
In a surprise move at its opening ceremony, the tower was renamed Burj Khalifa, said to honour the UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his crucial support.

You can't help but be marveled at this magnificent building, maybe more so for me, being an engineer. First at all you need to buy the ticket online, in high season, at least three weeks in advance. There is a 75% discount incentive to plan the visit this way, because during low season you might find tickets at the door, at a cost of $109. Another amazing thing about the Khalifa, is the elevator ride to the 124th floor, it is exactly 1 minute. The observation deck has space to hand hold the camera. As expected there are no tripods allowed. I took my little table top tripod, in vain, as I you can not find a flat surface to position it.The best angle to photograph the building would be from the Address Hotel, seen top left, on the first comment. This is where I will be on my next visit to this architectural wonder. The angle from the bridge you see here, is too close to photograph it, without distorting it.
