Attempting to balance flash with ambient

            I wanted to do a quick shoot while I was in Flagstaff to try and balance my flash with the ambient light (I haven't done much of that). My goal was to shoot it with the background ~1.5 stops below to darken it a bit. The sun was difficult to work with since it kept going in and out of the clouds. I feel like it turned out...ok...not great, just ok. When I showed it to my wife, she laughed and said the background look like a fake backdrop at a Wal*Mart studio...I guess my skills are improving!!

Strobist: SB-600 fired through a 42" umbrella camera right with 1/4 CTO filter and using CLS.
