            One of many trenchant quotes from Churchill goes as follows:-  “If you have an important point to make, don’t try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time-a tremendous whack.”

A group of us were in London to see the exhibition of late Rembrandts at the National Gallery, but we were early so took the opportunity to look at some old friends in the adjacent National Portrait Gallery. Photos of many of the paintings are now allowed, so long as they are for personal use only, which these are.
