The Yellow Line Resumes Service Tomorrow!

Friday, January 5, 2024, for the first time since a Yellow Line train hit snowplow equipment on the tracks at the Howard Station on November 16.

When I took this picture, it had been a month since the accident, which involved no loss of life and was not that serious compared to the crash that happened on the Loop elevated at Wabash and Lake on February 4, 1977. Four cars fell from the tracks to the street below, 11 people died, the elevated support posts had multi-ton el cars hanging off them for hours that night -- and the Loop elevated was back in service the next day.

Why this accident took so long to resolve and get Yellow Line service back is anybody's guess.
