Hannah Shaw Atwood Lowell (obverse) - a photo on Flickriver

This "found" photograph was purchased from a used book shop in Plainfield, Vermont, in the summer of 2007.

Hannah Shaw Atwood Lowell was indeed the third wife of William Lowell. She bore him one son, Stephen Arthur Lowell. Stephen married Mary (Ella) Purrington in Maine, where she bore him a son, William Elisha Lowell. Ella bore him a daughter, Margaret Lowell in Wisconsin.

In 1891, Stephen moved with his family to Pendleton, Oregon. His widowed mother, Hannah, joined him there. Stephen A. Lowell was a Supreme Court Clerk for Oregon's Eastern District and was appointed Judge of the Sixth Judicial District.

Margaret Lowell married Holman Boynton Ferrin and bore him two chidren, Miriam Ella Ferrin, and Allan L. Ferrin. Allan was a surgeon in Salem, Oregon.

Seeking descendants

About the photographer: F.E. (Francis) Stanley represents half of the Stanley twins, inventors of the "Stanley Dry Plate" photography method. This invention laid the foundation for their financial success. It's fame was eclipsed by their later invention, the Stanley Steamer automobile.
