ABM (Another Blue Monday) / The Dutch Vault, the new building of Royal Dutch Mint (Koninklijke Nederlandse Munt), in Houten, the Netherlands

Royal Dutch Mint moved to this building from the city of Utrecht to Houten in 2020.

The building was designed by wilma wastiau.
wilma wastiau is the new name since the end of 2020 of the
collaboration between two architectural firms.

The heart of the building is concrete, it is like a bunker, but the building doesn't appear so "heavy". Coins for the Netherlands and many other countries are produced here. Circulation coins, but also investment coins and commemorative coins.
I got the following information from the architectural company itself:

“De buitenkant oogt als een kluis, met bijna geen zichtbare openingen”, vertellen architecten Marie Wastiau en W. Allen Zimmerman. “Door de gouden kleur is de associatie met een goudstaaf snel gemaakt, maar wij omschrijven het graag anders. De facetten op de buitengevel zijn geïnspireerd op
facettenen en reliëf eigen aan munten. Zo hebben we o.a. het beeltenis van koning WillemAlexander (naar ontwerp van Erwin Olaf voor de Nederlandse twee euromunt) en andere sierlijke illustraties op euromunten bestudeerd. Je herkent in de gevel als het ware het typische Nederlandse landschap en de diversiteit. Dergelijke munten staan symbool voor de nationale trots en vandaar onze integratie ervan in het buitenontwerp.”
