The Surprises Keep On Coming! - a photo on Flickriver

            At the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center, they have more than just butterflies.  Aside from all the amazing flowers, plants and trees, there are water features and sometimes even ... BIRDS!

While I was busy trying to get some shots of the butterflies, my friend whispered, "You might want to turn around slowly and look at what's on that feeder behind you."  So I did, and saw this Purple Honeycreeper busily drinking away!!  I grabbed as many shots as possible, trying different settings because that feeder was really in the shadows.  This was the best shot, and has been greatly tweaked in editing to make it visible.

After it flew away, we both kept an eye out for it, but we never spotted it again, but I did find that sign that identified it.  The butterfly center has had birds here before, but they assured us the butterflies were not on the menu.  They say that - but how do they 'know'?
