Duluth back in the day - a photo on Flickriver

            Back on on July 26, 1975, the conductor is watching for switches as a DM&IR special is returning to Duluth from Two Harbors with Missabe's two steam generator equipped SD9s 130 and 129 up front. All the cool industrial type stuff in this scene is gone now, replaced by Interstate 35 and new highway overpasses and the single track rerouted for the North Shore Scenic Railroad, but Duluth has prospered with tourism including an appreciation for the lakefront area that was lacking 46 years ago.
