The Eye I

One of seven installations during the event Lights in Alingsås 2019 – the theme of the year is "Be the Light". (The building is the Nolhaga manor - Claes Adelsköld had it built in the Italian Renaissance style in 1879-1880 and Adrian Peterson was the architect.)

"When the eye receives light, it captures all the events and experiences we encounter. As has been said before, it is the mirror of our soul.
Our installation is the heart of Nolhaga Park, it thrives on social activity. The central fountain is reminiscent of a scene and waiting for the performance to begin.
The artwork in the fountain is a metaphorical mirror, we believe this reflects the soul of the place. We invite visitors to reflect on the importance of leading others into the light while ensuring that they do not obscure it from others."

Every year in september/october leading international lighting designers come to Alingsås to hold a week´s workshop. The participants came this year from 27 countries around the world. Together they light a number of locations around the town centre. More than 80,000 visitors every year walk the spectacular lighting trail or participate in events associated with the festival.
