World Heritage: Historic Town of Goslar VII

Upper floor of Hotel Kaiserworth, one of the buildings around the Market Square. The cloth merchants built their guildhall in immediate proximity of the Town Hall in 1494. The eight emperor figures on the facade can only be proven since 1684 (figures of ancient mythology are said to have stood there before).
The house has been run as an inn and hotel since 1831. First as "Die Worth" and from 1836 "Hotel Kaiserworth".

Located close to the Rammelsberg mines, the town of Goslar played an important part in the Hanseatic League because of the richness of the Rammelsberg metal-ore veins. The historic centre, which dates back to the Middle Ages, is perfectly preserved, and includes some 1,500 timber-framed houses from the 15th to 19th centuries. The town was not significantly damaged in the Second World War, partly because it was a hospital town.
