No. 1, The Thames

            Grain Tower, on the sea front at Grain, Kent, was built in the mid 19th century as part of the protection (against the French) for the dockyards at Sheerness and Chatham. Grain faces Sheerness at the mouth of the River Medway, Chatham is up river.
The tower was upgraded during the two World Wars. It's now privately owned and has been known as "No.1, The Thames" since being advertised for sale; if that is not its official name/address it should be.
No.1 The Thames - the Medway flows into the Thames and Grain Tower is the first fort on either river. There are a good many other forts, on both rivers, including fairly substantial structures at Sheerness.
