River Thames: flood plain - a photo on Flickriver

            The south bank of the River Thames, a few miles east of Gravesend at Shornemead & Higham Marshes.
The Saxon Shore Way runs (walks ?) from Gravesend to Hastings. It follows a different route to the 'current' shore, due to 'reclaimed' land. On a map, Gravesend is the last town on the Thames heading east, before coming to Allhallows On Sea; certainly Cliffe, which appears quite a way inland, was closer to the river than it is now. 
The land here is used for grazing and as a flood plain and is criss-crossed by drainage ditches, as well as telegraph poles and pylons.
