(Old) St. Raymond's Church and Churchyard, Westchester Village, before 1897, now The Bronx, New York City,

This church replaced a temporary church in a barn after the parish was established in 1842. The present St. Raymond's Church was built behind this one and was dedicated in 1898:

My Great-great-uncle Patrick McNulty and other relatives were buried in the churchyard seen in the photo. In 1986 the then pastor Henry J. Vier wrote to me saying "Apparently [the records of Pat's burial] were lost when the remains of those buried in the area where our school now stands were transferred to [a common grave in] the Old [St. Raymond's] Cemetery."

The Town of Westchester is
"on the Harlem River Branch of the New Haven and Hartford Railroad, 11 miles from New York. It has many handsome residences, fruit nurseries, etc, etc. Banks at New York and New Rochelle. Population 2,500. Adams Express and W. U. Telegraph."
