Blue Rose - a photo on Flickriver

Blue Rose

            Talk about Rainy days and Mondays  lol  . The weather forecast was attrocious today , so i didn't venture out . Plus my camera was in bits  , in preparation for cleaning .

So i decided to have a play around in Photoshop . I would like to give a little insight into the editing  of the image . 
I found an appropriate image in my files .  
First i selected the rose and then inversed the selection so that any changes made would not effect the rose , but just the background , which i darkened to black .

Then i inversed again and copy and pasted the rose .
The copied rose was moved below the original ., flipped 180 degrees and then flipped horizontally and brought down the opacity of the copied rose by 50%.

Then i opened a new layer and added a graduated shadow to the bottom of the copied rose to give a realistic reflection. Then flattened the image and changed the rose colour from pink to blue  and added a lens flare to the top righthand corner .
