Calm - a photo on Flickriver

Calm

            I was on my way to cut a Christmas tree when I saw this scene. But I hadn't taken my camera with me.  Since this lake is only 10km from home, though, I decided to go back and get it. Of course, by the time I got back it had changed a little, but still looked ok so I grabbed a few quick shots before continuing on.

This is pretty typical of what it looks like around here most days now ...  gray overcast skies with only the evergreen trees providing a little color ... and even they appear much darker that they do in the summertime.  Quite uninspiring ... unless you happen upon somethig like this.

The sun ... off to the right ... was doing its best to shine though the cloud cover ... as you can see by the faint yellow color in the right half of the sky and its reflection in the water.  And, if you zoom in, you will see it's actually snowing.  Lots on the hills in the background, too.
