Sumatran Tiger Cubs - a photo on Flickriver

            May 5, 2013 is in Burgers Zoo (Arnhem, the Netherlands) a twin Sumatran tigers born, two females: Lara and Janine. 
The Sumatran Tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) is a subspecies of tiger found on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The Sumatran Tiger is the smallest of all extant tiger subspecies. Male Sumatran Tigers average 204 cm in length from head to tail and weigh about 136 kg. Females average 198 cm in length and weigh about 91 kg. Its small size makes it easier to move through dense rain forests. Its stripes are narrower than other subspecies of tigers' stripes, and it has a more bearded and maned appearance, especially the males. 

5 mei 2013 is er in Burgers Zoo een tweeling Sumatraans tijgers geboren, twee vrouwtjes: Lara en Janine. 
De Sumatraanse tijger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) is een ondersoort van de tijger die alleen voorkomt op Sumatra. Deze ondersoort is kleiner dan de andere ondersoorten en heeft een donkeroranje vacht. De mannetjes kunnen een totaallengte van 204 cm en een gewicht van 136 kg bereiken, de vrouwtjes 198 cm en 91 kg. Het donkerbruine strepenpatroon bestaat vaak uit twee parallelle rijen.
De mannetjes van de Sumatraanse tijger hebben meer dan andere tijgersoorten opvallende bakkebaarden en vaak ook manen.
