Greg LeMond souvenir post card with personal message 1992

            In 1992 when I was 29 I wrote a letter and sent copies of newspaper articles featuring my horrific near-death motorcycle accident in 1990 and my amazing comeback to sport to American professional road cyclist Greg LeMond. LeMond was an inspiration to me as he became the first non-European and American to win the Tour De France. He also became the first American to win the World Road Cycling Championship in 1983. He was accidentally shot with pellets and seriously injured while hunting in 1987. Following the shooting, he underwent two surgeries and missed the next two Tours. At the 1989 Tour, he completed an improbable comeback to win in dramatic fashion on the race's final stage. He successfully defended his Tour title the following year, becoming one of only eight riders to win three or more Tours.

Naturally I was ecstatic to receive a reply from LeMond in June 1992. It was this souvenir post card featuring a photo of him personally signed and with a small personal message written by him. This awesome gesture lifted my spirits immensely at a time when I needed it. Thank you Greg LeMond I will always rate you.
