On Patrol - a photo on Flickriver

On Patrol

            There were a lot of predators flying around while we were visiting the Grizzly Island Wildlife Area like this one.  We saw a few golden eagles flying in the marsh area looking for a meal, but I'm not sure what this guy is.  We tried to identify him online, but I'm not sure what kind of bird of prey he is.  I don't think this is a golden eagle.  Any help sharing his identity would be appreciated.

I loved the perch that he chose.  It was coming out of one of the gates that they use to channel water into different areas of the marsh.  We have been talking about how animals adapt to their environment in my classroom and this guy has used our technology to his advantage.  He can see right into the water way below him and also into the nearby grassy fields.  Keep on clicking!
