Seligman, AZ on Route 66 - a photo on Flickriver

            Seligman is a town that has stayed alive by becoming a tourist attraction for Route 66.  The town became known as the birthplace of historic Route 66 when the town's people were able to get the state of Arizona to register the highway as a historic highway.  

There are tourist locations like the one pictured here that are all Route 66 themed.  All the restaurants and motels are themed in this way also.  While I was visiting on this trip a couple of tour buses were in town and there were dozens of visitors taking pictures of the area with their cell phones.  There was also a group of Europeans that were traveling on motorcycles across the United States.  It was kind of cool to hear all these different languages being spoken and seeing all the smiling faces as they explored the area.  I would say this is an interesting place to stop and take a break from the road.
