Thompson Springs, Utah - a photo on Flickriver

            After visiting Cisco, UT, I continued driving to Thompson Springs to access Sego Canyon.  Sego Canyon is about three miles North of the town.  This mesa was quite a view as I was driving out of the town, and I had to stop and take a few images of it.  Thompson Springs is almost a ghost town, but few hardy souls live here.  There is an RV park and a hotel in town that also serves as an artist retreat.  Outside of those two businesses, I didn't see much going on.

The real reason for coming here is in Sego Canyon.  There are petroglyphs and pictographs in the canyon that date back thousands of years.  I was told in Moab that the pictographs were in really good condition and when I got there, they really are pretty well preserved.  This stop really is out of the way, but if you like to see historic sites, this is a worthy side trip.
