EN57-1648 at Warszawa Główna. 1994.

            By 1994 Warszawa Główna station had become a glorified carriage depot for berthing stock during the day and several platform lines had been given over to the fledgling Warsaw Railway Museum and housed cosmetically restored steam locomotives. One platform sufficed for the less than hourly suburban service to Warka and EN57-1648 is seen here with train E119 the 14.11 to Warka despite the destination reading Słuzbowy (Staff).
The station started life as the city centre goods depot for the Warsaw-Vienna railway in 1875 but rapid expansion of freight traffic saw it replaced by larger facilities further west at Czyste. I believe the passenger station was developed in the 1903-1914 period. As mentioned in the previous image uploaded it lost its status with the opening of the new Warszawa Centralna on the new cross city line in 1975. It clung on as a suburban terminus until 1997 when it closed and the whole site became the Warsaw Railway Museum.
