4wDM's (Diema 2639/1963) & (R&R 84/1938) MIMP Ballygarvey Bog, Killinagh.

            Midland Irish Moss Peat Ltd had a mix of locomotive types some quite elderly and eventually sort more secondhand locomotives from mainland Europe obtaining three 600mm gauge "Diema" locomotives built by Diepholzer Maschinenfabrik, Diepholz, Germany. Here No.1 (Diema 2639/1963) is seen double heading a train of empties on the running line to Ballygarvey Bog with vintage Ransomes & Rapier 4wDM (R&R 84/1938) coupled inside. MIMP eventually sold out peat operations to Klasmann-Deilmann (Ireland) Ltd who shut down rail operations in 2011 and opted instead for road machinery to carry the peat to the mill. Diema 2639 ended up exported to the Bon Repos Railway, Brittany, France while the rare Ransomes & Rapier was snapped up by the Moseley Railway Trust, Apedale, UK.
