2ft gauge 4wDM no.3 (AK 9/1983) Killinagh Peat Works, Rathowen. Eire.

            When Midland Irish Moss Peat Ltd set up operations in 1983 in Co.Westmeath harvesting peat from Smith's Bog near Rathowen most locomotives were obtained secondhand and were quite elderly with 3 coming from the closed Erin Peat Products Ltd peat works at Birr, Co. Offaly. One new purchase was Alan Keef built 4wDM (AK 9/1983) The locomotive is seen here at Killinagh Peat Works. The company was selling domestic peat turfs to the local market for domestic heating and milled peat for horticultural use and export.
