The Martian Chronicles: Ray Bradbury [review 0797 - short story collection - March 5, 2019]

   The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury (1920-2012)is a collection of interrelated short stories written between 1946 to 1950. The author added short 1 to 2 page bridging narratives between stories; nonetheless the stories can be read independently but is not recommended.

   The story of mankind's expeditions to Mars and the demise of the Martian race in the context of  Bradbury's lyrical writing is a pleasure to read. I wonder how many hundred of thousands of high school students read this title on a required reading list and fell in love with literature and science-fiction as a result - I was one of them. I re-read this title recently and it still has the magic and wonder of my first reading over 50 years ago. 
   
    First published in 1950 this title has consistently been reprinted ever since and is a highly regarded by critics and readers.
