'A page of Lucian' - 'A true story' by Lucian of Samosata, illustrated by Aubrey Beardsley

            An oddity this and a bit of a mystery - or it was until Steve and Robert (below) sorted it out!

The page is within a portfolio of printing by the Alcuin Press of Campden in Gloucestershire. The Press was active in the late 1920s and early '30s. The reverse of the page is annotated 'a page of Lucian' and this refers to the 'True Story' by Lucian of Samosata, who was a greek author active in the Second Century AD. However - what book it is from (pages 4 and 5) and who the artist is? It looks Gill in a way but it doesn't ring any bells with me as Gill - and it is in fact by Aubrey Beardsley. 

Beardsley, who died in 1898 tragically young from TB, was amongst the most influential artists of his day as the Aesthetic Movement grew into the wider Art Nouveau movement.
