British Railways (Scottish Region) : Cylde Coast and Loch Lomond - tourist brochure, 1950 - map

            One of the vast number of generic style leaflet brochures issued by British Railways during the 1950s for various geographic areas extolling the tourists options for travelling and holidays. This, fromthe Scottish Region, is a version of a leaflet that had been a stalwart of the railways publciity machine for many decades - the various combined rail, sea and road tours that could be made using the extensive network of Clyde steamers and associated railways.

Many of the sailings advertised in the brochure still exist - although the PS Waverley nor the TS Queen Mary II no longer ply as part of the BR fleet - and various of the lines and stations mentioned, such as Glasgow St. Enoch, have long gone.
