Federation of Malaya : telephone directory, January 1960 : Railway Administration part 3

            The telephone directory for the Federation of Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia) issued by the Telecommunications Department for January 1960. It isn't a large volume but, needless to say, has lots of fascinating information tucked away in its 230 pages. The introduction pages owe an awful lot, design-wise, to pre-war UK telephone directories although the alphabetical pages have a clear and legible look.

The Federation of Malaya had been created in 1948 and had previously been known as "British Malaya". The Federation became independent in 1957 and in 1963 the country, united with Singapore, Sarawak and Sabah, became modern Malaysia.

These pages cover the Railway Administration - the Malayan Railways generally being the title used in marketing and publicity. The entries cover all main head office functions, the districts and stations as well as the Ports (mainly Port Swettenham now known as Port Klang) along with hotels, staff facilities such as sanatoria.
