The Atlas Beta 5 lantern for 'Group B' lighting, such as side streets, and seen here on a Concrete Utilities column and bracket. Such installations were common across much of the UK. The lantern was originally designed as the AEI Amber Minor but was re-badged as the Atlas Beta 5 following the effective acquisition of AEI's street lighting division by Thorn Industries in 1964 and the formation of British Lighting Industries to market both the old AEI and Thorn/Atlas ranges.
