Debra Paget: BIRD OF PARADISE II (1951) + A Found Poem

            This film made an incredible impression on me when I was a kid. It's seldom screened nowadays it seems, though I did see it for the first time in many years at a Tiiki weekend at the American Cinematheque iin Hollywood a few years ago.

No spoilers here, but he film does not end well for Debra! A volcano is involved. Film co-stars Jeff Chandler and Louis Jordan.

Chandler and Debra, also co-starred in 20th Century-Fox's BROKEN ARROW (1950) which did not end well for her either.

This is one of a monthly series of colorful "Flowers-by-Wire ads.

Inspired by Debra and finding this ad I will revive a "found" poem which I unearthed in a '50s movie magazine some years ago.

DEBRA DOESN'T LIKE TO KISS

Found Poem #4

As the camera lines up Debra for a kiss,
she certainly couldn't look less eager
or more disinterested.

Cameron, with make-believe ardor,
takes Debra in his arms,
holds her close;
they kiss beautifully
but meaninglessly.

Debra Doesn't Like To Kiss.

However,
when Mr. Right Man does come along -
and he will -
he'll get all the love and affection
Debra has been saving
just for him
alone.
