            The Soldiers' Chapel of St. Peter's Church of England in Ballarat sits just to the left of the main nave and church altar.  It was built after the Great War (1914 - 1918) in honour of those in the St. Peters congregation who made the supreme sacrifice for King and country during the bloody conflict, and offers a quiet place separate from the main church for reflection and prayer.  The Soldiers' Chapel houses the William Hill and Son, Norman and Beard Ltd. organ, and also features several beautiful stained glass windows.

Around the altar of the Soldier's Chapel there are three windows; two are memorials to soldiers lost during the Great War, whilst the middle window offers solace to the grieving.

The Geoffrey Ballantyne Tunbridge Memorial Window features the allegorical figure of Faith arrayed in green and golden orange robes, holding her cross as she looks to the heavens.  Geoffrey Ballantyne Tunbridge was a gunner of the Second Field Artillery Brigade of the Australian Army who was killed in action, at the tender age of just 21, on the 14th of March 1918 in Belgium.

The Let Your Heart Not be Troubled Window features Jesus in purple robes standing above a sword and shield that have been left aside from battle.  Below them is written in Gothic script; "Let your poor heart not be troubled.  he who believes in God, believes also in me.  To the Glory of God and the memory of".  A vignette of the crucifixion appears in the bottom of the window.
 
The Arthur Herbert Curwen-Walker Memorial Window features the allegorical figure of Hope arrayed in green and blue robes, holding her anchor as she looks to the heavens.Arthur Herbert Curwen-Walker was a Lieutenant of the 14th Battalion of the Australian Army who died on the third of May 1915 during the battle of Gallipoli at Walker's Ridge.  He died as a result of wounds he received during the bloody battle.  

St. Peter's Church of England in Ballarat's main boulevard, Sturt Street, is an early and simple bluestone church which is given architectural interest by its elaborately detailed, later tower.

The imposing tower was commenced in 1864 to designs of architect C. D. Cuthbert in early English Gothic Revival style. Later additions include the west transept, which was completed in 1870, the tower which was completed in 1891, and east chapel which was completed in 1917. 

The tower is very elaborately detailed with a castellated parapet, paired belfry windows and trefoil windows, a motif used in the nave gable above the lancel windows. 

To this day, it still stands behind its original iron palisade fence.
