SCOUT: "Oh wasn't that fun playing hide-and-seek, mijn beste vriend, Peter?"

PETER: "Oh yes mijn allerbeste vriend, Scout! Did you enjoy it, mijn prinses Rosie?" *Kisses Rosie and blushes pink beneath plush fur.*

ROSIE: "Oh I did, mijn prins! I especially liked it when you found me and you gave me a soft snuffly kiss!" *Blushes red beneath pink woollen plush.*

SCOUT: "All that hide-and-seeking has given me a grumbly tummy! Let's go and see if the afternoon tea is ready!"

PETER: "Oh good idea mijn allerbeste vriend!"

ROSIE: "I agree, Scout! Let's go!"

SCOUT, PETER and ROSIE: "Hullo Daddy!"

DADDY: "Hullo you three!"

SCOUT: "Daddy, we have been playing hide-and-seek, but now we have grumbly tummies!"

SCOUT, PETER and ROSIE: "Grumbly tummies, Daddy! Grumbly tummies!" *Rub yummies vigorously.*

DADDY: "Well isn't it lucky that I have just finished setting out your afternoon tea! There are home made mince pies and shortbreads that even the Ritz in London doesn't have, and some delicious Lindt chocolates too!"

SCOUT, PETER and ROSIE: "Oh thank you Daddy!"

ROSIE: "Please help yourself mijn prins! I will pour you some tea."

PETER: "Thank you mijn prinses Rosie! You look so beautiful in your new purple tutu by the way." *Blushes pink beneath plush fur.*

ROSIE: "Oh thank you, mijn prins Peter!" *Blushes red beneath pink woollen plush.*

SCOUT: "Peter and Oleg don't know what they are missing out on! What a wonderful treat! Thank you Daddy!"

PETER and ROSIE: "Thank you Daddy!"

DADDY: "You are very welcome Scout, Peter and Rosie!"

My bears Paddy and Scout have made very good friends with two bears in Holland called Peter and Oleg (www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/galleries/721577154558...) and their Mummy (www.flickr.com/photos/66094586@N06/) . Peter and Scout are very similar and have become best friends. Peter loves Rosie and Rosie loves Peter, so they have become prince and princess to one another. Paddy and Oleg are very similar too and have become best friends as well. Oleg received an invitation for two bears to afternoon tea at the Ritz in London as a Christmas gift because he is such a good bear. Obviously Scout and Rosie were sorry to miss out on the fun, but with a little help, have contrived a way to have a wonderful time with Peter which I am sure will match the joy and enjoyment that Oleg and Paddy had at the Ritz!

Scout's Christmas present from Father Christmas and the Christmas Bear in 2022 was a beautiful 1930s Little Red Riding Hood tea set for four. It was made by an unknown maker in Stoke-on-Trent. Not all the set is being used today. It features beautiful, brightly coloured transfers of different parts of the faerie tale.

Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.

Rosie is Scout's cousin, because like Scout, she is a free trade knitted bear from Africa. She was made in Kenya by one of the Kenana Knitters, Martha Wanjira. She is made from home spun and dyed wool. She was a gift to me from two very dear friends, includng the one who gave Scout to Paddy.
