Sparkler - a photo on Flickriver

My 'Little Sparkler' grevillea, in its late winter flourish of bright yellow, red and orange flowers, on the balcony here in Cherrybrook, northern Sydney. This grevillea is native to the far south coast of New South Wales, where it was developed at Tarrawood Native Nursery, at Kalaru, near Tathra. See:

In Sydney, it is available in hybrid forms in nurseries such as 'Plants Plus' in the Cumberland Forest, at West Pennant Hills. 'Little Sparkler' is a magnet for honeyeaters, as well as bees. It only reaches a height of about 50-60cm and a width of 80-100cm, so it is ideal for pots or small gardens, or you could plant a number of them for a mega display of "sparkles".
Another very similar grevillea, which I also have, is called 'Fire Cracker'.

Today is my older daughter's 15th birthday. It just seems like yesterday we were at the San Hospital, Fox Valley Road, Wahroonga, for her birth at 2.30am in the morning.
