The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express hauled by 86259

            86259 (E3137) "Les Ross" is pictured bathed in sunlight passing Tamworth railway station. The Class 86 was hauling the 1Z86 Winter Cumbrian mountain express from London Euston-Carnforth. 

At Carnforth the railtour will have a change of locomotive, in the form of Britannia class 7MT 70013 "Oliver Cromwell" which will take the train northwards via Shap to Carlisle. Then return via the Settle to Carlisle line as far as Farrington junction. 

This is where the Class 86 will again take over and return to London Euston.
