            - A les 9 i sis minuts d'un dia d'agost de 1990 ens trovàbem a l'estació de La Roche sur Foron esperant l'exprés que venia d'Irún i que ens duria fins St. Gervais. Allí vam transbordar al tren de via estreta St. Gervais-Chamonix-Le Chatelard. Finalment, des d'aquí vam tornar a fer un altre canvi a una unitat dels Martigny-Chatelard. Aquest dos últims trens son de cremallera. En definitiva, el nostre trajecte aquell dia va ser Ginebra-Martigny. Si haguéssim agafat un dels molts IC entre ambdues ciutats per la via principal, hauriem trigat 1,40 h. Tal com ho vam fer vam tardar 4,20 h. Els meus companys de viatge encara s'estan preguntant per què ho vam fer així. Obviament jo soc aficionat als trens i ells no.

Allí transbordamos al tren de via estrecha St. Gervais-Chamonix-Le Chatelard. Finalmente, desde aquí volvimos a hacer otro cambio a una unidad del ferrocarril Martigny-Chatelard. Estos dos últimos trenes son de cremallera. En definitiva, nuestro trayecto aquel dia fue Ginebra-Martigny. Si hubiéramos utilizado uno de los muchos IC entre ambas ciudades por la via principal hubiéramos tardado 1,40 h. Tal como lo hicimos nos costó 4,20 h. Mis compañeros de viaje aún se están preguntando por qué lo hicimos así. Obviamente yo soy aficionado a los trenes y ellos no. 

- At six minutes past nine on an August day in 1990, we were at La Roche sur Foron station waiting for the express from Irun that would take us to St. Gervais. There we transferred to the narrow gauge train St. Gervais-Chamonix-Le Chatelard. Finally, from here we changed again to a EMU of the Martigny-Chatelard railway. These last two trains are rack railways. Our journey that day was Geneva-Martigny. If we had used one of the many ICs between the two cities on the main line it would have taken us 1.40 h. The way we did it take us 4.20 h. My travel companions are still asking why we did it this way. Obviously I am a railway amateur and they are not.
