Routemaster RM924/926/928 and 929 and ERM's

            Newly built Routemasters in the outside yard at Park Royal Vehicles, the Body builders for Routemasters awaiting completion. Photo was taken on my original Brownie 127 from the adjacent Park Royal Greyhound Stadium Car Park (probably balanced on my bike) a lucky shot as many never came out it shows clearly on the left hand row Routemasters RM924/926/928/929 and 1 other possibly 930 all WLT registered. On the right hand row we see the first batch of Extended Routemasters classified originally as ERM (Extended Routemaster) but before entry into service amended by London Transport to RML (Routemaster Long). Regrettably no ERM nrs are viewed as the bonnets have still to be installed but they are from the first batch of 24 i.e. ERM 880 - 903 all WLT registered.

On completion and final check these vehicles would drive the short distance (30/45 mins) to the AEC Works at Southall, Middlesex, where Final Checkover / Inspection and dispatch to London Transport (probably Aldenham Works) would take place. The vehicles would then often be dispatched to London Transport Garages for storage prior to entry into service.
